So, it’s back to life, back to reality now right?

Well, sort of.

I read an interesting article last week talking about Brits and their feelings about going back to work. Specifically, going back to their office hours.

It seems that the COVID-19 lockdown has stirred up a lot of anxious feelings regarding going back to work.

A survey was done by Accountancy and consulting firm Theta Financial Reporting’s shared that out of 2,000 adults two-thirds of people aren’t comfortable commuting on public transport and 35% worry that going back to a traditional office will harm both their mental health and productivity.

So, what’s the solution? How do we get our economy back up and running whilst being mindful and taking into account people’s mental health?

I think flexible working is the only way, and for companies to make this ‘the new normal’ as they say.

It’s already started in some industries. A recent poll found that more than a quarter say their company’s finance teams will now work at home for the majority of the time.

The thing is, flexible working packages have been a selling point for candidates long before 2020.

But now there has been a real shift, and providing flexible working for your team is something you will need to consider very shortly (if you already haven’t done so) IF you want to keep a team of top industry talent.

Otherwise, you may well lose your top performers, fall way behind your competitors, and have to begin the hiring process again.
