Don’t always go with your gut

We are often told to go with our gut in life. In big life decisions like relationships, career, or new opportunities. People will advise you, “Just go with your gut feeling.” But no one really talks about if you go with your gut and it turns out to be the wrong decision. Take Hiring Managers for example… One thing I often see is Hiring managers interviewing candidates and getting on really well with them. They like their vibe and their energy and have a great chat… And they chose to hire this individual coz their “gut” said go for it instead of following their process and using data. Then sooner or later the cracks start to form and they realise the candidate was never really the right fit for the company and now it’s too late. They have to start the process all over again… All because they “just went with their gut.” Interviews are only one part of the process. Collecting and analyzing data to find the exact fit for your company is crucial and if it’s not done in the result can be catastrophic.
