Are you causing more uncertainty?
A lot of Hiring managers are spreading fear across their team right now without even realising. Teams look to their Hiring managers as leaders. So if you’re showing uncertainty, inconsistency, and not following a clear hiring strategy they will not feel safe in your company. Leading with certainty takes confidence that’s for sure. (especially during a global pandemic threatening our economy) By doing this you’re not just leading your team. You’re giving them clarity. You’re showing them that you intend to be consistent and stick to your targets. You’re setting the tone going forward. And you’re showing them your expectation for both them and the company. Throwing your hiring plans out the window because of the current economic climate screams uncertainty, it says “we don’t know what direction the business is going in, so our goals, plans, and aspirations are now on hold” Sure, plans might change, timelines might need to be altered slightly… But stopping altogether just causes more uncertainty.
