Oxygen masks and Business owners
Today I wanted to talk about the importance of putting yourself first.
Not just doing stuff for yourself. I mean putting your needs first, at all times.
Some people may read that and think it’s selfish…
But the thing is, if you’re a Technology business owner and you’re running around, trying to make up for the skill shortage in your team, you’re soon going to come to an almighty stop!
You can’t be all things to all people. You will burn out. And no one (business owner or not) wants that.
You’ve probably heard of the ‘oxygen mask’ analogy before.
“Always fit your oxygen mask before assisting others.” The cabin crew say this in their safety talk before take off on an aeroplane.
Because you’re no good to anyone if you haven’t got your mask on and you’re struggling to breathe, right?
The same goes for business. If you’re running around trying to put on everyone else’s oxygen masks, who is going to look after you?
When do you get to focus on your key strengths?
How is this going to affect your business?
