The scary man in a funny outfit
Have you ever had to endure something tedious and long-winded maybe even painful because, in the long run, you knew it would be worth it?
My friend once told me that when he was a child he had to have 4 teeth removed to make space for his wisdom teeth and prevent painful overcrowding.
It was pretty brutal by the sounds of it.
He remembered his Dad kept telling him “It’ll be worth it.”
His words of encouragement didn’t help. All my friend knew was that a scary man in a funny outfit was going to rip out FOUR of his perfectly fine teeth.
He was then told he’d be getting injections in his mouth to numb the pain…
What?! He thought.
Injections?
Now he was utterly paralysed with fear.
No one is going near my mouth, he thought.
But after a lot of convincing and bribes of his favourite ice cream, he went through with it.
Anyway, why am I telling you this today?
The Business owners I speak to remind me of my friend, except their paralysing fear is that their business will fail and they’ll lose everything.
Which COULD happen if they don’t stop making the same hiring mistakes…
If they don’t change the recruitment process…
If they don’t invest in top talent (rather than the talent every recruiter is chasing)
