I’ve just come back from a program where we sit down and spend a couple of days with other recruitment owners. We can talk about what’s going well, what’s not going well, and come away putting new ideas into place. What’s been really interesting with the conversations we’ve had over the last few days is the pre-recruitment process. A lot of people that we speak to and clients that we work with seem to rush into trying to replace somebody or to fill a gap in their business without spending enough time looking at exactly what they’re recruiting for and what they really it, this can waste a lot of time. So I would really implore you to take some time out to really look at the gap that you’ve got in your business, to clearly understand the person that you’re looking to find, why you’re looking to find them. What role you need them to play, what responsibilities you need them to take care of within the business, and what you’re hoping for them to achieve for you. It’s interesting how many vacancies change direction as the process starts! If you would like some help with this, or if you’d like to talk through some of the thoughts and ideas that we brought out of the program for the last few days, get in touch.
